A son, brother, partner, grandson, friend, and soldier who loved life with all his heart. He lived with an open heart, laughed out loud, embraced everyone, and always cared for \u201cthe little people who fall out of our line of sight,\u201d as he instructed us in his last letter.\nWith endless dedication, he fought to protect the State of Israel and its citizens. Shachar\u2019s Life Story<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Shachar was born on the 7th of Tishrei, 5763 (September 13, 2002) in Jerusalem,\nthe fourth child of Liat and Doron, and brother to Inbar, Sahar, and Noya.\nHe grew up and was educated in the city, studied at the religious high school named after P. Himelfarb with a focus on art, and was a handsome, smiling, creative boy, full of joy for life.<\/p>

From a young age, Shachar\u2019s big heart stood out. He was a counselor in the \u201cBnei Akiva\u201d youth movement, in the \u201cYuval\u201d group at the \u201cMerkaz Yerushalayim\u201d branch, where he led activities for children with special needs and initiated their integration into the branch\u2019s programs. He loved helping everyone \u2013 from elderly people in the street to children who had no friends \u2013 and always made sure that everyone around him felt equal and loved.<\/span><\/p>

Shachar loved hiking across Israel, cycling, diving in the sea, listening to a wide variety of music, and soaking up every moment of nature and water. At home, he was \u201cthe prince of the house,\u201d a devoted son to his parents and a loving, supportive brother to his sisters and nieces. During high school, he met Noga, the love of his life, and the two planned a future together.<\/span><\/p>

In 2021, Shachar enlisted in the IDF, joining the 101st Battalion of the Paratroopers Brigade. He excelled as a soldier and as a cadet in the squad commanders\u2019 course. Later, he returned to the battalion to lead his soldiers with devotion, serving as the operations officer and as the company commander\u2019s radio operator. His friends and commanders describe him as a professional and caring fighter, a good friend who always looked out for his soldiers \u201ceye to eye,\u201d and someone who brought joy and lifted everyone\u2019s spirits.<\/span><\/p>

In October 2023, when the \u201cIron Swords\u201d war broke out, Shachar and his unit were sent to defend the communities near the Gaza border. For long hours, he rescued residents, evacuated the wounded, and fought terrorists with courage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Just before entering Gaza, Shachar wrote farewell letters to his parents, sisters, and Noga, in which he outlined an agenda that became his life\u2019s legacy:\n\u201cBe Good People\nSmile.\nStrive to make every person you meet smile too.\nBe open to criticism and always try to improve yourself. Know that the greatest quality that one can have is the ability to make another person happy.\"\nIn the red notebook he carried with him throughout the battles in Gaza, he continued writing reflections on life and love letters to Noga, reflecting his great spirit and deep faith in goodness.<\/p>

On Shabbat, the 5th of Kislev, 5784 (November 18, 2023), Shachar was killed in close combat with terrorists in the northern Gaza Strip, together with his commander and another soldier. He was laid to rest at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, leaving behind his parents and three sisters. His parents donated his organs, saving the lives of five patients.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

His family and friends continue to honor his memory through acts of kindness and joy \u2013 distributing food packages to those in need, operating the \u201cWish Taxi,\u201d planting trees, establishing a lookout point in Mount Hebron, creating youth group activities, and publishing a children\u2019s book inspired by him.\nHis words live on as a message that continues to shine:\n\u201cLive, dance until your legs hurt, laugh until your stomach aches, love fiercely, and spread goodness in the world.\u201d<\/p>

Our Shachar left behind treasures in the form of many writings. Before entering Gaza, he wrote letters to his partner, his parents, and his sisters; he kept a journal during the fighting, from which a song was born \u2013 later composed and performed by Marina Maximilian; and on October 29, 2023, the eve of entering Gaza, he wrote a \u201cnote\u201d on his phone \u2013 beginning with the words \u201cBe good people\u2026\u201d and ending with \u201c\u2026and a better world will be created.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Pay attention to the small people who fall in the corners of the eye.
Appreciate the little things the world has to offer, especially nature and music.

society dictate to you what makes you good people,
just try as hard as you can,
and even when you fall, know that that's the road to success
